Abstract: This course introduces the fundamental principles of nanomaterials, including their classification, synthesis, characterization, and unique size-dependent properties. Students explore various classes of nanomaterials, such as nanoparticles, nanowires, nanotubes, quantum dots, thin films, and two-dimensional materials, with emphasis on the relationship between nanostructure and material performance. The course covers modern fabrication techniques and advanced characterization methods, as well as the applications of nanomaterials in electronics, energy conversion and storage, catalysis, environmental remediation, sensing, biomedical engineering, and advanced manufacturing. Current research trends, sustainability considerations, and future technological developments in nanomaterials are also discussed.
Description: This course combines fundamental concepts with recent advances in nanomaterials research and their technological applications. Students are encouraged to analyze the relationship between synthesis methods, nanostructure, and material properties through case studies and current scientific literature.
